How to protect from malaria and how to treat it?

Prevention and treatment of malaria disease: the Web site provides general advice to the public and specific medical information to healthcare professionals.

The medical Web site provides general data for people living in malaria affected areas
www.impact-malaria.com aims to provide updated information and recommendations regarding the diagnosis and the treatment of malaria to healthcare professionals.

Drugs, insecticides, bed nets... all preventive resources

Long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets can protect families from mosquito’s bites. They are recommended by the World Health Organization (W.H.O). Today, preventing malaria with drugs is only recommended for pregnant women in endemics countries and for travellers coming from a non-endemic country. Doctor or pharmacists will prescribe the drug required in line with guidelines of the country.

Today, there is no vaccine that will definitively prevent against malaria.

Curative treatment of malaria

Though both are given orally, the treatment for the prevention of malaria and the treatment for non-complicated malaria are different. Only your medical practitioner or your pharmacist can advise you for the appropriate drug and dose (based on your country of origin, your weight, your medical history, etc.).

To learn more about malaria’s cure and its prevention, consult the section entitled “Treatment”.
