Prevention and treatment of malaria disease: the Web site provides general advice to the public and specific medical information to healthcare professionals.
Our objective is to inform persons of countries where malaria is prevalent through partnering with doctors or scientists in these countries. We also want to bring updated information, scientific news and articles to healthcare professionals.
It is important to protect oneself from a mosquito bite as it transmits the malaria parasite. For this, use bed net treated with insecticide and spray insecticides in bedrooms. This is especially important for pregnant women and children under the age of 5 years-old.
Scientists are working on a vaccine that will effectively protect people against malaria infection.
Though both are given orally, the treatment for the prevention of malaria and the treatment for non-complicated malaria are different. Only your medical practitioner or your pharmacist can advise you for the appropriate drug and dose (based on your country of origin, your weight, your medical history, etc.).
