Species of plasmodium

Plasmodium is a microscopic parasite, the agent of malaria. Four species of Plasmodium cause malaria in humans. Among them, only Plasmodium falciparum can cause severe complications, or even the death. This happens when the patient is treated too late.

The plasmodium is transmitted by female anopheles bites

Only the female of Anopheles transmits the Plasmodium falciparum, by biting humans.
