 The 1st World Malaria Day

The Africa Malaria Day (25 April 2008) is for the first time in years declared the "World Malaria Day".

To celebrate and support the initiative many events are organized throughout the World to raise awareness and bring attention on the malaria burden.

Through its Impact Malaria program, sanofi-aventis Access to Medicines team supports the World Malaria Day through many events in France and in Africa.
 In Côte d'Ivoire
  • First Inter-municipal contest for raising awareness on malaria among schoolchildren in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire

    This contest involves the Ministry for Health and Public Hygiene, the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) and the National Health for Schools and Universities Program (PNSSU) of Côte d’Ivoire and Impact Malaria.
    Theatre short sketches on malaria played by schoolchildren aim to raise awareness among the youngest.
    Ten schools (each representing the municipalities of the District of Abidjan) compete for the prize.
    The final show will take place at ‘Palais de la Culture’ in Abidjan in April 23, 2008.
 In France
  • Sanofi-aventis supports various events of theAssociation Nationale des Etudiants en Médecine de France (ANEMF) (The National Association of Medical Schools in France) and the Coalition Française contre le Paludisme (The French Coalition against Malaria) from April 17 to April 30, 2008.
  • The Coalition Française contre le Paludisme (The French Coalition against Malaria) is holding a conference April 22, 2008 on the topic:

    "ACT TOGETHER TO CONQUER MALARIA"
